Public School 174 Instructional Priorities
2025-2026

This year, our focus is on providing differentiated small-group instruction to meet the needs of every learner. We will support this work through explicit teaching and by using assessment data to guide instruction so that all students can succeed.

Explicit Teaching

We will provide clear, direct instruction that models skills and strategies, ensuring students have the tools they need to access and master grade-level content. To achieve this, we will plan purposeful lessons, model thinking and processes, and provide guided practice before releasing responsibility to students.

Data-Driven Instruction

We will use assessment data to monitor progress and guide instructional decisions, tailoring lessons to meet the academic needs of all learners. To achieve this, we will analyze formative and summative assessments, track student growth, and adjust instruction based on trends and individual needs.

Differentiated Small-Group Instruction

We will create flexible small groups that allow us to target specific skills, provide scaffolds, and extend learning opportunities so every student can grow and succeed. To achieve this, we will group students intentionally, use varied instructional strategies, and provide targeted supports and extensions as needed.
