Grade Unit/Focus Student Goals

Students will learn about:

- The color wheel so they can mix primary colors with secondary colors.

- Use tactile and fine motor skills to create their own color wheel by using play-doh.

     
1  

Students will learn about line and shape so that they CAN identify and create ORGANIC and GEOMETRIC shapes for their artwork similar to the style of artist Henri Matisse. Students will create a winter landscape scene by using collage, printmaking techniques, and applying the concept of using organic and geometric shapes in a work of art.

Students will learn how to identify warm and cool colors in works of art, compare/contrast landscapes and cityscapes. Students will apply these ideas to create a cityscape artwork.

Students will

- Create self-portraits after studying artists Henri Matisse, Frida Kahlo, and Vincent Van Gogh.

- Learn how color can add expression and mood in a work of art

Students will create Native American dreamcatchers by using patterning and weaving techniques.

     
5  

Students will demonstrate an understanding of line, pattern, and perspective by painting their own version of Gustav Klimt’s “Forest of Trees.”
