Grade Unit/Focus Student Goals

Students will:

• Learn about the color wheel so they can mix primary colors with secondary colors.

• Use tactile and fine motor skills to create their own color wheel

• Use tools and materials safely

• Explore cutting and gluing through collage and paper construction

• Use line, shapes, and colors to create patterns

Students will:

• Experiment with drawing tools such as oil pastels, pencils, colored pencils, crayons

• Explore the use of varied lines and colors to show expression

• Create a painting that demonstrates an understanding of color and line

Students will:

• Create self-portraits using line, pattern, and repetition.

• Demonstrate beginner skills in basic tools, art-making processes, oil pastels, and watercolor paint.

Students will:

• create surrealist works of art that show their individuality after observing the work of Marc Chagall

• Discover how to use personal expression and imagination in order to convey their individuality through art.

     
4   Students will create a work of art using radial symmetry to form beautiful name mandalas.
     
5   Students will explore the color wheel and its' color sequence by creating color progression works of art.
