Grade Unit/Focus Student Goals
       
k Collage  

Students will create a collage that demonstrates experimentation with placement of shapes, color, composition, textured materials, layering, and overlapping. Students will listen to story about Van Gogh, and view his paintings. Students will create a collage inspired by Van Gogh's "Vase of Sunflowers" by using real textures.

       
1 Collage

Students learn about the work of Henri Matisse, create cut paper pictures in the style of master artist Henri Matisse. They will understand the difference between positive and negative space.

Students will explore the work of American artist Georgia O’ Keefe by creating large than life flowers artwork.

       
2 Sculpture Students will understand the difference between form and shape. Students will be able to create a clay sculpture/pinch pot to demonstrate form.
       
3 Sculpture Students will create a work of art inspired by Pablo Picasso by using basic clay construction skills. Students will explore artists Bearden and Picasso and their contribution to art and music by creating a collage that expresses mood and music.
       
4 Sculpture After exploring the work of John James Audubon and Charlie Harper, students will create clay birds using various clay techniques such as pinching, coiling, and attaching pieces to form.
       
5 Collage Students will interpret artistic images by using critical thinking skills. Students will create a self-portrait collage using various media.
