School Leadership Teams are school-based organizations in every school. They are composed of an equal number of parents and staff. They meet at least once a month, and determine the structure for school-based planning and shared decision-making.


SLT Bylaws Should Address (but are not limited to):

- Expectations for team members

- Professional development expectations for team members

- Roles and responsibilities of the chairperson and other members of the team

- Team composition

- Method of election of members

- A process for communicating with constituencies including sharing of team recommendations and decisions

- Procedure for removing the chair or any other member

- Length of terms for members

- Methods of decision-making that the team will use

- Specific procedures for determining the need for conflict resolution

- Procedure for calling emergency meetings

School Leadership Teams are requires to hold a minimum of ten meetings during the school year. Meeting dates and times are determined by the team and should be scheduled at a time that is best for most parent members of the SLT .The meeting schedule is required to be posted in the school in a place that is visible to all members of the school community. All meetings are open to the entire school community.
